Frequently Asked Questions

When will my baby sleep through the night?
Most babies can sleep 5–6 hour stretches by 3–4 months, and 8–10 hours by 6 months. This varies enormously — some sleep through earlier, many much later. Avoid comparing to other babies.
Is it safe to let a newborn sleep longer?
For the first 2–4 weeks, wake a newborn who hasn't fed in 4 hours (by day) or 5 hours (by night) until birth weight is regained. After that, let a healthy, thriving baby lead.
