Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pass Stripe fees to customers?
Yes — it's legal in most US states and many countries. Simply charge a slightly higher amount (the formula is in this calculator). However, check your industry regulations — some sectors (utilities, government) prohibit surcharging.
Does Stripe charge differently for subscription billing?
Standard Stripe Billing uses the same 2.9% + $0.30 per charge. Stripe offers volume discounts for high-volume businesses. ACH/bank transfers are 0.8% (capped at $5) — much cheaper for large recurring payments.
